Welcome to Kindergarten Prep!
Welcome to Kindergarten Prep!
Little Acorn is a wonderful place to begin a lifetime of learning. Kindergarten Prep is a year for learning, growing, making new friends, and for lots of fun too! Using a theme-based, whole child approach to learning, we teach the basics of literacy and math. This means our students get to experience the ways in which math, science, reading and writing are all connected.
Our days are filled with stories, letters, phonics, numbers, writing and many more activities. We will create art projects, investigate science topics, and make lots of Kindergarten Prep memories.
Our Kindergarten Prep class is perfect for students who are ready for a more structured program, but not yet age appropriate for Kindergarten. We emphasize Kindergarten readiness, while still ensuring we have fun every day!
Our monthly snack schedule is available for download on our About page. Snack is the same for all classes.
Check out our school calendar for upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
Sinead Brooks, Lead Teacher
Teacher Sinéad: My name is Sinéad Brooks (pronounced ‘Shinade’) and I am the lead Kindergarten Prep teacher at Little Acorn. I feel very privileged to be part of the Little Acorn team, and to be surrounded by our wonderful students and their families. Here is a little bit of information to help you get to know me…
I have been working at Little Acorn since 2014. I earned a Master’s in Teaching degree from WSU Vancouver in 2007. I hold my teaching certificate in Washington State and completed my Professional Certificate to become highly qualified in 2016. I grew up in Ireland and have a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Linguistics & German from Dublin City University.
I married my wonderful husband, Dutch, in 1999 and we have 3 great children – Declan (graduated from Little Acorn in 2015) and my twins Elise and Rory, who still attend Little Acorn. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, working out, camping, traveling and, when I can squeeze it in, knitting.
As the lead Kindergarten Prep teacher, I am committed to providing a safe, inviting and positive learning environment for each child. I believe we are a team working together in your son/daughter’s education and I welcome parent involvement in and around the classroom.
Communication is a key part of your student’s learning, so I encourage you to let me know any questions or concerns you might have. I am usually available to chat before and after class, or by special arrangement
