Star Class (Age 3 by September)

Welcome to the Star Class!  We strive to create an environment where your child will learn to love school. We provide a caring environment where you and your child can feel comfortable knowing theyare safe while away from home. Our main focus is introducing and learning social skills that will help your child excel in the years to come. New friendships will be made as we introduce letters, numbers, shapes, and themes in fun and creative ways. We provide tailored opportunities and projects that allow all children to succeed at their own level.  Please stop by and visit us, we are looking forward to meeting you.

Our monthly snack schedule is available for download on our About page. Snack is the same for all classes.

Check out our school calendar for upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.

Star Class Handbook

Jaylene Wecks, Lead Teacher

I am honored to have the opportunity to teach your wonderful children this year.I have been teaching at Little Acorn since 2009  and I am thrilled to be in the Butterfly Class. I hold a BA in Writing and Literature and a minor in Communications from George Fox University. I have experience working with children of all preschool ages and regularly attend early childhood continuing education classes. I have taken ECE classes at Clark College, and hold over 30 STARs education credits. I also have over five years experience leading in a children’s ministry program.

I am married to my best friend Erik. We have been married for twenty-one years and have three wonderful daughters: Lily, Nora, and Anni. Lily, a junior, and Nora, a freshman, both attend VSAA across the street from Little Acorn. You’ll probably meet them as they leave in the mornings from the Butterfly classroom to head to school when we open the door. Anni, a fourth grader, attends Truman Elementary. As a family, we love to go camping, play games, garden, and I’m an avid crochet nut. We are also a family of Mythbuster and space/science geeks!

Shari Powell, Assistant Teacher

Hello! This is my first year assistant teaching at Little Acorn and I couldn’t be more excited! My family has been attending Little Acorn since 2013 and we just fell in love with the atmosphere and the staff! It truly takes a village to raise a child!
I graduated from WSUV with my Bachelors in Human Development in 2010. During that time I also worked at a daycare/preschool as a program supervisor/toddler teacher for 7 years before I started my family and became a stay at home mom.
My husband and I have been together for 13 years. We have two little boys and a baby on the way. Dylan is 6 and will be a first grader at Burnt Bridge Creek Elementary and Corbin is 4 and will be in the Busy Bee class here at Little Acorn. We have two dogs, Lexie and Piper, and a cat named Thor.  We enjoy spending time outside as a family. I love going to the beach and my boys love riding their dirt bikes and swimming.
I am very thankful for this opportunity to watch your child grow and am looking forward to meeting you all!
