Star Class (Age 3 by September)
Welcome to the Star Class! Our goal is to create a fun and loving environment for all the children and families that come into our class. The value of play is important to me. Through play, children develop cognitive, physical, social, and emotional wellbeing. We will create a safe environment for children to be able to take risks that can encourage their growth and all aspects of their development. As children play, interact, problem solve, create, and form community, they learn. Our room will be a fun, creative, safe, and positive learning environment, full of play and opportunity for children to discover what they love about life and enjoy about learning. It is my job to help your child transition toward more independence and self-care, from side-by-side play to playing one-on-one or in small groups, to be confident when being away from their caregiver for a few hours, and feel secure to be themselves as they mature and investigate their world.
Our monthly snack schedule is available for download on our About page. Snack is the same for all classes.

Natasha Flexer, Lead Teacher
This year will be my 11th year at Little Acorn. After taking a two-year hiatus so I could work on my Bachelor degree in Human Development, I am so excited to be back at Little Acorn. My first 4 years here were spent in the Busy Bee Class as an assistant working with Teacher Kim after which I taught the sunshine class for 6 years. During my time as assistant teacher in the Busy Bee Class I worked in completing my Early Childhood Education classes at Clark College, I graduated that program in 2016 and immediately began working on my BA at WSUV. Working with children and families is my passion; I enjoy studying theories about child development and putting this knowledge to use. I am excited to be the lead teacher of the Star class and look forward to getting to know you and your children. We will have a great year together. On a personal note, I have four children. Evelyn is 17 and will be a senior at Fort Vancouver High School! Isaac is 11 and is starting middle school at Mcloughlin Middle School, Kate is 8 and will be in 3rd grade at Marshall Elementary and Annie is 5 and will be in the Kindergarten Prep class here at Little Acorn. Their father, Taylor and I will be celebrating our 19th anniversary this year. I enjoy spending time with my family; we enjoy walks in our neighborhood, spending time outdoors in our garden and visiting out of town family. Being out in nature is one of my favorite things and I love sharing this passion with children. We will do a lot of nature exploration both in the classroom and outdoors!
Shari Powell, Assistant Teacher
Hello! This is my first year assistant teaching at Little Acorn and I couldn’t be more excited! My family has been attending Little Acorn since 2013 and we just fell in love with the atmosphere and the staff! It truly takes a village to raise a child!
I graduated from WSUV with my Bachelors in Human Development in 2010. During that time I also worked at a daycare/preschool as a program supervisor/toddler teacher for 7 years before I started my family and became a stay at home mom.
My husband and I have been together for 13 years. We have two little boys and a baby on the way. Dylan is 6 and will be a first grader at Burnt Bridge Creek Elementary and Corbin is 4 and will be in the Busy Bee class here at Little Acorn. We have two dogs, Lexie and Piper, and a cat named Thor. We enjoy spending time outside as a family. I love going to the beach and my boys love riding their dirt bikes and swimming.
I am very thankful for this opportunity to watch your child grow and am looking forward to meeting you all!
