WELCOME TO FIREFLY CLASS!

As one of our youngest classes, Firefly is all about socialization and play!
We provide the tools needed for developing early social skills and offer children opportunities to practice successful peer interactions in a supportive environment. We also focus on beginning self-help skills, empowering students to see themselves as capable individuals.

In Firefly, students are encouraged to explore and learn through play. Whether it's building with blocks, engaging in imaginative play, or discovering something new in the sensory table, our goal is to introduce a wide variety of activities that foster curiosity and creativity.


Above all, we hope to instill a love of learning that our students can carry with them through preschool and beyond.

Meet the Teachers

  • LEAD TEACHER

    Hi! I’m Kirby and I am so excited to start this year with your family! 

    I've been teaching at Little Acorn since 2017. I’ve taught in several different classrooms, but most of my time at LAPS has been spent here in Firefly. I love all ages, but there is just something magical about teaching 2.5 year olds. This is such an exciting age for development and I strive to make everyone’s first school experience a positive one. Along with being in the classroom I am the assistant director so you may hear from me for administrative things too! 

    My background includes a bachelor's degree in Human Development with a focus on Early Childhood Education. I've always been drawn to working with young children, and my past work experience includes working in various nanny positions, childcare centers, and school districts. I’m incredibly grateful to continue pursuing my passion here at Little Acorn.

    I have 3 amazing children who are all graduates of Little Acorn. They are Nolan, a freshman at Western Washington University, Aurora, a sophomore in high school at VSAA, and Bennett, who is in 6th grade at Discovery middle school. We also have a corgi named Hamilton who helps keep us busy! In the rare moments I have spare time I enjoy gardening and reading.

    I look forward to getting to know each Firefly child and family this coming year!

  • ASSISTANT TEACHER

    Welcome, I am Taylor and I am excited to start a new year with your kiddos in the firefly class! This is my third year at Little Acorn. My first year I was a float assistant teacher so I got to spend time in all of the classes, and this will be my second year in Firefly.

     We have been part of the LIttle Acorn family for 4 years now, as my two youngest children have attended/are attending!

    I have a bachelor’s degree in business, and have worked mostly in the natural food and cosmetics industry. Throughout my career, I’ve been raising 3 wonderful children, 10, 7, and 4 years old and have loved all stages of development. This has led me to transition into pursuing my other passion of working with kids and helping them develop skills to be successful in the future!

    Along with my 3 children, I have been married for 11 years and have a 12 year old maltese poodle named Bella, and a puppy named Piper.
