WELCOME TO STAR CLASS!

Our goal is to create a fun and loving environment for all the children and families that come into our class. The value of play is important to me. Through play, children develop cognitive, physical, social, and emotional wellbeing. We will create a safe environment for children to be able to take risks that can encourage their growth and all aspects of their development. As children play, interact, problem solve, create, and form community, they learn.

Our room will be a fun, creative, safe, and positive learning environment, full of play and opportunity for children to discover what they love about life and enjoy about learning. It is my job to help your child transition toward more independence and self-care, from side-by-side play to playing one-on-one or in small groups, to be confident when being away from their caregiver for a few hours, and feel secure to be themselves as they mature and investigate their world.

Meet the Teachers

  • LEAD TEACHER

I am so excited for another fun year in Star Class!

Originally from Eldora, Iowa I moved here in August 1980. I earned my associates degree in Early Childhood Education with an emphasis on Special Education from Clark College. I have been working with children since 1977 in several types of programs ranging from daycare to special education to now preschool.

I have two daughters and a granddaughter.

I am a certified dog trainer and have a mini American shepherd named Luna.

  • ASSISTANT TEACHER

The vast majority of my work experience has been working with children and families in some capacity since 2008. I previously taught Pre K and coordinated an afterschool program while in college. Eventually I moved on to become and paraprofessional for Vancouver Public Schools while finishing up my BA in Human Development and Psychology at WSUV. In 2016 I began working and supporting families and students as a Family-Community Resource Coordinator. I gained so much knowledge about how to support the whole child and it was very rewarding.

Once Covid hit in 2020 I made the tough choice to stay home with two daughters to keep them safe and healthy. I have three children! Emmy and Zoe are Little Acorn graduates and Max will be starting at Little Acorn this year. I’m so excited to not only be a parent in this community but also working with students and families as well. It’s a great place to be that takes me back to my early childhood roots!
